In despair, Banner allows his id to transform into the Hulk effectively committing suicide and the spirit Hulk lays waste to Nightmare's realm. This results in a completely mindless Hulk unleashed upon Manhattan

As a precaution, Dr Strange has implanted a "fail safe spell" in the Hulks brain that will allow hime to return to the Crossroads should he end up on a world where he is unhappy

Synopsis : Lady Of Life - City Of Death - Looking for a green maiden that the Puffball Collective has shown him from the Crossroads, the Hulk is shocked to find a world where he is not the strongest, but the actually among the weakest of its citizens. The demonic red knights who control this world beat him to within an inch of his life, imprison him and the Hulk becomes one of their draft slaves.

The Puffball begs the captain (and figurehead) Cybor to allow him to accompany the Hulk but is prevented by the spell that binds him to the Crossroads

Synopsis : ??? - Without the Puffball to pacify him the Hulk rampages through the ship and Cybor is forced to return to the Crossroads to find the Collective. They use a forcefield to contain the Collective so that they all can travel through one of the gateways. They find Klaatu but despite all efforts the hunt ends badly for all concerned, and the shattered remains of the crew are left dying on a lifeless world while the Hulk and the Collective return to the crossroads.

Synopsis : ??? - The Puffball Collective convinces a trusting Hulk to break a locked and chained doorway at the crossroads to allow him access to his homeworld. Only it turns out the Collective is a evil criminal exiled from this particular world for unleasing terrifying N'Garai demons on his own people. In the midst of this terrible danger the Triad appear to help the the totally outmatched Hulk to for his life.
